Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed al-Maktoum is the 35-year-old daughter of Dubai’s billionaire ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum.

The Sheikh is the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and reportedly has several children from various wives.

Sheikha Latifa drew international attention in 2018 when a human rights group released a video made by her in which she described an attempt to escape Dubai.

During the 2018 attempt, she saved up £315,000 and contacted Hervé Jaubert, a former French spy and naval officer.

In a video sent to her friends, Sheikha Latifa said she was being held against her will in a barricaded villa.

In the 40-minute clip, obtained , the 35-year-old claims she was beaten, drugged and imprisoned in a jail following her return.

She added: “I am a hostage and this villa has been converted into a jail.
